Does anyone think that they sound like they have Rand Paul hair?April 2, 2013 at 5:14 pm #11901
I lost my shit on the train when they started talking about ‘Lebanese’ girls…and when L. Joy called in gave you boys that sass. Fucking hilarious, and I hope you do it again soon. <3April 2, 2013 at 8:26 pm #11920
I was driving when I was listening to this and I was laughing so hard that I know people next to me were wondering what the hell was going on. I loved it and will definitely listen again. Elon go ahead and make it the 9th show. I’m going to pray to Jesus.April 2, 2013 at 8:58 pm #11921
Every now and then you should dedicate at least one show to the SGH to get all your unreasonable-ness out. No thinking, no planning, just pure diarrhea of the mouth wrapped in pages of the Bible and republican insanity. Cultivating so much stupidity on the spot is a skill, and I must say Elon and Aaron wear stupid well.April 2, 2013 at 9:29 pm #11925
I’d love to see a weekly show. Maybe the weekends, where they just go through all the shit from the past week.
I’ll subscribe!April 3, 2013 at 7:14 pm #11974
It would be a great weekly show just to go over what the rest of twib nation is talking about. My side still hurts was laughing forgot I was at work. It was epicApril 4, 2013 at 10:57 am #11995
The Southern Gentlemen are funny. But the Hmong Hater blows them both out of the water.April 5, 2013 at 3:48 pm #12067

I’m sorry but I couldn’t disagree more. I meant to post about the episode earlier but I had to work… I could only handle 3 or 4 minutes of the episode… I kept skipping ahead to where I thought it may stop but alas it did not… I’m a black guy from Memphis, TN. As one who actually considers himself a southern gentlemen, it may have been decent if the accents were anywhere close to reality… but what ensued seemed to me more of commentary on how you guys perceive southerners to sound and think. I understand the stereotypes about the south, I understand that some of them aren’t very far off, and I can laugh at a good southern joke… but a joke lasts 1 minute tops. I might be black but I am also a southerner as well. I’m proud to be both and I just couldn’t handle one culture ridiculing the other. I think Twib would benefit in having a Twib South for more people to understand the mix of southern and black, how much of the south aren’t backwards bible thumping yokels, and how we perceive issues that arise(being on the left of a widely conservative area and why) because there have been a few issues discussed on the show where you all had the same perspective of the story and my fiance and I both had a different one(for example, the college kid with the confederate flag in his dorm room.) Anyway, thats it, I don’t usually post but I was compelled to do so in response to this epi. Big fan of the show.. shout to the… forum?

Alex: I don’t think they were making fun of all Southern people, but I’m not Southern so I can’t tell you how to feel. But I do agree that it was hard to listen for an hour duration.April 11, 2013 at 4:19 pm #12436
almost as epic as dophinsApril 11, 2013 at 6:02 pm #12446

I think there may be some sort of miscommunication here Alex. First I think I need to put it on the record that although I may be from Brooklyn my family is distinctly southern. A lot of my speech and manners are a direct representation of that. So for me to think that southerners are a bunch of hicks would be to insult most of my family. The idea behind the SGH wasn’t to faithfully represent all southerners or even gentlemen–but to mock a type which you acknowledge do exist. I didn’t feel a need to explicitly say “I DONT MEAN ALL SOUTHERNERS” because I thought it was implied. I have family in the south right now. They wouldn’t fit into any of these categories. The SGH wasn’t meant to be an actual representation of southern values, culture or even accent. It was absurdity to the 1 billionth power. No more, no less.April 12, 2013 at 12:17 am #12476
I’m a Southerner as well and I thought Elon’s old southern white man accent was spot on. I pictured him wearing a white hat and striped baby blue and white suit, sipping on sweet tea. I still have the show saved and listen whenever I need a good laugh. IT WAS A JOKE!! Lighten up.April 12, 2013 at 5:30 pm #31062

I feel you Elon, and I love the show, maybe the just the length of the “southern twang” repelled me. It was the only epi I couldn’t sit through all the way. And Rochelle, more than likely someone has told you the same thing about something you didn’t entirely cosign. It was a joke, lighten up… I know it was a joke lol… it just wasn’t for me ma’am.
