To be fair, not everyone who’s anti-choice holds that view because they want to control women. The issue of when legal personhood begins—of when a human or potential human becomes endowed with individual rights separate from those of its mother—is pretty complex and subtle. There’s room for reasonable people to disagree here. (For the record, I’m decidedly in favor of keeping abortion safe and legal, though I’d prefer that it were also relatively rare.)
