New Birth: Either Fire Bishop Long Or Force Him To Resign |
It was one thing for Bishop Eddie Long to not step down after four separate lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct were filed last week and after some rather interesting pictures were leaked on the internets but now after an emotional interview with one of Bishop Eddie Long’s accusers, Jamal Parris aired on Fox News in Atlanta yesterday, Bishop Long needs to either step down or be forced out. Especially since Parris is claiming that he and Bishop regularly engaged in sexual acts in the church.
Either Jamal Parris is the best actor of all time or something happened between he and the bishop that is not above board. It’s in his eyes. It’s in his words. It’s in his voice.
Now exactly what happened is for a court of law to figure out. In the meantime, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church needs to do the right thing here (especially if they want to exist after this scandal is over), and force Bishop Long out if he doesn’t want to step down.
No company simply allows an employee, even if they are the CEO to keep coming to work after allegations of sexual misconduct are reported (at least not in most cases). Any people in the leadership of New Birth with a moral compass should be outraged that they continue to be lead by someone’s who reputation is as damaged as Long’s. After watching the clip below how can anyone defend Bishop Long wholeheartedly? Even if we don’t know all the facts this clip should give us all pause. If Jamal Parris’ interview doesn’t cause some of the members of New Birth including their leadership, to take a step back and reassess the situation then the Bishop isn’t the only one who isn’t practicing what he preaches.
