My question is always,”Why do YOU want to say it so much?” Not to mention we use an ‘a’ not ‘er’. It’s not Ebonics but on purpose. Lastly, let me explain by using this example. My family may use my nickname because we have relationship but others outside that circle may not. Other black people may call other black people Nigga out of the sheer fact that we know when we say it to each other all the racist garbage that white people attach to that label is not included. NO additives and no preservatives. In the mouth of another black person its just another word. To make it a negative or positive we add adjectives like; broke, dirty, fine, nasty, rich, triflin, smart, ignorant, ghetto, etc… nigga. Stop trying to be so damn familiar (this DOES NOT make you down, cool or whatever and it sure doesn’t make you black. Melanin, lineage and in some cases the politics of the state you’re in does. [Check the history- 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 black]lol.) So since there is no benefit for whites to say it why fight for the right to do so other than the desire to be insulting and rude.

I thought this was funny and agree with almost all of it. I just didn’t think the part about “Green Day, and Spelunking” was funny. It’s hypocritical. Especially in the context of the other points you’re trying to make. You’re saying what white people shouldn’t say and how they should be more culturally sensitive, then you go right into white stereotypes without missing a beat. What’s the difference? Maybe it’s not the exact same thing as using the N word, but it’s still saying lame stuff about white people. And then we’re supposed to take your advice on being culturally sensitive. It’s like in the 80s when black comedians could still make white jokes but white comedians couldn’t even allude to race.

SL: You’re correct. That was a random white stereotype that i used as a gag (Even though in all honesty, I didn’t know for a fact that spelunking was a “white” thing. I actually said it simply because it sounds funny. I dont know anyone black or white that actually does that) but that was literally just a set up for the White privilege line. I, and many Negroes are a fan of punk/rock/indie rock and the like. I also felt comfortable making the joke because there isn’t a negativity that’s associated with those things. You aren’t impacted adversely because of a like of Green day or an enjoyment of cave diving.

I enjoyed your take on the Dr. Laura situation. Seriously – she’s insane, that’s all there is to it. When the controversy first popped up online I didn’t even listen to the call all the way to the part where she starts throwing the N-bomb. I was totally offended by the first minute or so, where she basically tells the black caller that she’s just being overly sensitive. When the lady started describing the idiotic things her white husband’s white friend says to her, and Dr. Laura said “I don’t think that’s racist,” I hit the stop button and thought, “Yep. Dr. Laura is still an idiot.”
