unbelievable. the pig should be arrested, NOT put on 'paid leave', like all these fucking coward cops with their weapons and their violence.
    protect and SERVE. don't beat.

If only she had a friend there to calm her down and tell her to act like an Adult.

while the officer handled the situation poorly, i don't weep for this girl. the first girl WAS resisting arrest. the second girl DID assault an officer. i'm more upset that the officer didn't have the situation under control earlier in the confrontation. he was being too gentle, allowing her to become more emboldened, stressed, irrational, etc. after she was in handcuffs, he could have explained to her whatever he wanted to but in the middle saying “i hit her because she she was trying to grab me, etc.” FAIL. handcuff her and then walk her through the points where she went wrong and where she crossed the point of no return. the same should have been done for the girl he punched. at that point, he should have used ALL his force to get the first girl handcuffed and then should have done the same for the second girl. there was a crowd forming and real threat of the situation getting worse. backup should have also been called the moment the girl resisted arrest. so the problem isn't the force the cop used (he barely touched the girl. if that's the best punch he can throw… OFF THE FORCE!), it was that appropriate force wasn't used earlier to get the girl subdued and handcuffed and the situation under control. after a certain point, the girl WASN'T going to be able to walk away from this with just a ticket, but as a child, as someone afraid to be arrested, as someone feeling threatened, she wasn't capable at that moment of reason so the officer shouldn't have wasted time and effort trying.

however, those arguing that this cop should receive understanding because he's human and has been provoked are absolutely delusional. the officer being human is irrelevant. we entrust cops with the authority and force they have BECAUSE they receive special training that should enable them to keep emotions and situations under control. most excessive force follows a high-stress event, so using the aforementioned logic, officers should NEVER be held accountable for using excessive force. stress is a huge part of their jobs and they are supposed to be able to control that, but this is a bigger issue that police departments are just now beginning to tackle. once your heart rate rises about a certain point, your functions and reasoning skills begin to shut down as your body prepares to fight or flee. the left part of your brain that would normally signal you to calm down can no longer function or communicate with the appropriate right part of your brain instructing your body to do damage to whatever is “threatening” you. that is a problem in any situation but ESPECIALLY for cops who carry weapons and can legally use deadly force. once they reach a certain point of stress, they can no longer responsibly carry out their jobs- LITERALLY. their minds/bodies LITERALLY cannot function properly. there are techniques that were formerly used with high profile body guards and military to continually introduce agents to stressful situations until their heart rates cease to rise above 110 when confronted w/ the stress. this ensures that they can still function. police departments are just now implementing this type of training because THEY realize this is a real problem. it's also one of the reasons they stopped high-speed chases. it wasn't simply the threat to pedestrians and property- it was that after chasing these people, heart rates and stress was so high that it led to excessive force and manic officers.

now the stress/heart rate situation i described above is simply to debunk the idiotic “they're human” excuses. i dont think that applies to this situation. the cop did not use excessive force. however, if the situation was serious enough to punch the girl, he should have immediately turned his attention to her and cuffed her ass. that's my only qualm. otherwise… two tears in a bucket.

It almost goes against my religion of hating the po po to keep having to say this, BUT…she deserved it and he was not wrong. Anyone who resists arrest and attacks a police officer for no reason is lucky that they didn't get pepper sprayed, tasered, or shot. To make statements like “we need an investigation” or “he should be fired” in this case actually devalues cases of TRUE police brutality. This was not police brutality, this was two heffas with no home training out acting a fool in public, so please let's NOT waste our voice and our time on protesting this case, let's save it for tomorrow when someone innocent will abused by police.

Come on people! These days it seems like the more of this behavior we see the more acceptable it becomes.
Had this officer been a black man punching a white girl in the face do you think folks would be so quick to rule in favor of the officer?
How do you want your NO fast or slow? How much further are we willing to grin and bend over before we finally say, ENOUGH!!
