Chuck Todd Does Not Understand Journalism
This clip is well-nigh stunning.
It’s not the media’s job to inform the public about what is true and what is false? What were Woodward and Bernstein doing during Watergate, trolling for readership?
I have the terrible feeling Chuck Todd would say yes. It’s not about making sure we have a well-informed voting public. It’s about ensuring we offend no one while maintaining the largest audience possible.
Meanwhile, over on the PBS Newshour (I like to think of as The Ifill/Woodruff Show) they are doing an entire week-long series of segments where they address public questions about Obamacare. They sit patiently and explain how your friend with the pre-existing condition will be able to sign up for health coverage next month and can have whatever care they need insured at a baseline of 60% coverage starting on January 1.
