Hannity Asks the Important Questions: Are Negroes Gonna Riot Over Zimmerman?
Sean Hannity and Mark Fuhrman: A Match Made in WTF.
Look — I don’t watch Fox News because I don’t hate myself. But this morning on AMTWiB, L. Joy, Aaron and I discussed Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s impending move to Fox News, and it sparked some discussion.
L. Joy didn’t know who any of the Fox and Friends geniuses (Steve Doocy and Gretchen Carlson) even were, which prompted Aaron to point out that it’s necessary to watch Fox News just to keep apprised of the fuckery, to which I responded, essentially, “Dude Naw.”
I pointed out that there’s never a reason to watch Fox News because the blog News Hounds does it for us — so we don’t have to. And then it occurred to me that I hadn’t read Newshound in ‘lo these many years because, let’s face it, I’ve been taking an extended break from my obsessive blogging about politics ever since The Black Man™ won reelection and refused to leave the White House, much to the chagrin of those who really think he ought to just get the hell out already.
All of this is to say that after this morning’s show, I popped over to News Hounds and was heartened to see that George Zimmerman’s best TV-bro, Sean Hannity, is still the same race-baiting assclown that he has always been.
Last night, apparently, Hannity thought it would be a capital idea to invite Mark Fuhrman — yes that Mark Fuhrman — to speculate as to whether or not black folks were going to wile out and riot in the event that George Zimmerman (who, if you have been trapped under something heavy, is on trial for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin) is acquitted of murder charges.
From News Hounds:
Sean Hannity, Fox News Master Baiter Of Race, once again stuck his finger in the eye of African Americans tonight with the blatantly insensitive use of Mark Fuhrman as an analyst of the George Zimmerman trial. But even worse, Hannity specifically asked Fuhrman to opine about how likely it will be that African Americans will riot if when Zimmerman is acquitted. As if a noted racist like Fuhrman would have any insight into African Americans in Florida. Yet Fuhrman used the opportunity to take a thinly-veiled swipe at the black community.
At about 7 minutes into the segment, Hannity said: “Let’s go to the issue, the Broward County sheriff’s office is preparing a Zimmerman-verdict riot plan. That was laid out today, Valerie.” Boey said that there were already “peace makers” there “getting the pastors together, getting people in the community together and trying to improve race relations so that we will not have riots and, you know, the mayor here says that it should be peaceful. Of course, that’s what we all hope.”
Well, that may not be the hope of Master Baiter Of Race, Hannity. I mean, anyone who wants peace would not be regularly consulting the likes of Mark Fuhrman on this case in the first place and especially not on the topic of calming the waters in the event that Zimmerman is acquitted. But that’s just what Hannity did. He asked, “Mark, how on guard must they be?”
Fuhrman answered, “Well, I s’pose that they’re gonna prepare as they would for anything that’s gone sideways like this. I just think it’s kind of pathetic that a court of law cannot be in a vacuum of the legal system without the influence of the public threatening to do great bodily harm to people and property. It’s really a pathetic statement for our country.”
Here’s the thing about the Zimmerman trial: We as black people are damned if we do and doubly damned if we don’t. If Zimmerman is convicted, we’re going to hear howls from Fox News about how the system is corrupt and favors black thugs who go prowling the streets of Florida at night, looking for innocent neighborhood watchmen to brutally attack because something-something BLACK PEOPLE ARE THE REAL RACISTS™.
If Zimmerman is acquitted, any civil unrest, whether violent or not will be held up as the reason that young black kids deserve to be shot like dogs in the street — because they’re violent and they can’t be trusted! ALSO, THEY’RE RACIST.
Strap in, America. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.
