Riot

On #TWIBradio: When is a riot a revolution?

In the wake of yesterday’s riot in Brooklyn we ask, what do riots mean? We also discover that no one is safe from internet trolls, not even Michelle Obama. An infant is killed during a drive-by shooting in Chicago, when will we admit there is a problem? And we return to the discussion of gatekeepers, complete with listener feedback.

Featuring: Dacia Mitchell, Aaron Rand Freeman, and Elon James White

  1. MSN Now had a post re: this event. They described it as a riot and only inluced the info NYPD has put out. What was alarming were the hundreds of the extremely racist and violent comments that filled their comment thread. I am not a New Yorker but was skeptical re: the initial reports of what happened at The Kimani Gray vigil I received this podcast link in my Jack & Jill newsletter email & it is the clearest explanation of what took place I have read or seen. Thank you for your insight and on the ground reporting. I feel like living in NYC mmust be like living in AZ – in love with the place and powerless over the Governing. You have Bloomberg & Kelly – we have Brewer & Arpaillo. Still – I think it is worse to be a black youth in NYC.
