A Good Deed For A Good Dog
Huffington Post ran this story, and it’s one worth sharing. I simply cannot watch the video, because I have to go out into public soon and I’ve been bawling enough already. Stick with me though, they’re happy tears.
Dave Thomas, or as we all know him, Just Some Random Dude, had been jailed and his dog impounded. He went to see his dog, but did not have the $400 to get him back. When it became too much, he simply sat down and wept. The photo shows him holding his dog’s hand under the bars. My heart broke. How many people have been $400 short of something so precious to them? Thanks to media and generous hearts, all is well now for Dave. The photo is so powerful, you can see it all in one brilliant slice of space and time. Expecting no help, he was a broken man in that moment. A moment more Americans can sympathize with as the financial squeeze continues. Yet people came through, and a man and a dog were given a gift that they can appreciate for a long time to come.
Human kindness won this round, and for that I will go to bed tonight grateful. I may also give my kitty some extra treats and chin scratches while I take a moment to appreciate him.
