Our Stupid Media: The Summary So Far (Today)
The following is an advisory from the Emergency Media Derp Alert System.
We started today’s adventure in Derp with the Washington Post, which allowed something called Suzi Parker* to pass along reporting from The Daily Currant** that Sarah Palin has been hired by Al Jazeera.
Residents of Georgetown reported hearing the whirring sounds of Katharine Graham spinning in her grave.
Meanwhile, David Gergen took to the Twitters to offer his patented brand of insight on the political machinations in DC, to wit:
Have the Obama folks adopted a strategy of making the GOP look so extreme that they will b driven from power in 2014? cnn.com/2013/02/12/opi…
— David Gergen (@David_Gergen) February 12, 2013
No, David. PRESIDENT Obama has adopted a strategy of not interrupting his enemy when he’s self-destructing, and his “folks” are doing *your* job of factually pointing out how extreme they are.
But thanks for asking.
So much Derp, and we haven’t yet heard Ted Nugent deliver the Confederate Party response to the State of the Union address.
This concludes the Emergency Media Derp Alert. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
* WaPo helpfully notes that “Suzi Parker is an Arkansas-based political and cultural journalist and author of ‘Sex in the South: Unbuckling the Bible Belt.’” Her bio fails to clarify whether she draws little hearts when she dots the precious “i” in her first name.
** The Daily Currant is a humor site in the vein of The Onion, which deviously hides its satiric mission from Arkansas-based “journalists” by declaring itself to be “The Global Satirical Newspaper of Record”.
