Today in Dumbass comments: Blacks shouldn't vote
As a writer/host of a web series I know very well the perils of reading the comment section on sites that my work appears on. I’ve been called all sorts of words and amazing assumptions have been made about me. But this is just the way it is. I accept it and I don’t get angry…most times. What I do get is scared because the comment sections give a brief peek into the mind of what some of my fellow Americans are thinking and it scares me…a lot. Prime example: I recently posted the latest episode of This Week in Blackness and it was picked up on NewsOne. It urges people to vote in the midterm elections. This is what one commenter decided to write in response:
Voting is a waste of time. Many Black people in America can not grasp the fact that “voting” is primarily a venting mechanism used by a “white” corporate class to pacify the citizens in all Western (“white” / European) countries, this applies especially to African people in America.
If one truly wants to make a statement DON’T VOTE. Your local city, state and national governments as a whole will become very worried that you are not buying into a “white” supremacist system.

While as voting is a great way of doing nothing yet being told by Negroes (paid off Uncle Toms or Brain dead Africans) and the “white” supremacist establishment that you are dong a lot? Obama anyone?
As I have said before and will say again it is much more prudent for Africans in America not to vote. Ask yourself what has the USA government DONE FOR ME and African people in America as a collective ?
Now this poster went on to get all “we need to do for ourselves” but I can’t even pay attention to anything this dude says when he’s advocating such nonsense upfront. Yes, don’t vote. That’s how you let your government know that you’re mad. And yes, those neighborhoods that DO vote seem to get all of those pesky public services like better sanitation, cops constantly patrolling and bigger budgets for schools and more money in GENERAL, but you black people? Ya’ll shouldn’t vote. Don’t pay any attention to folks like me who urge you to take part in this small little right people DIED for to make sure we had. I’m simply a paid off uncle tom! ITS THE WHITE MANS GAME!
