Imagine if a Black Person Yelled like an idiot at a Town Hall? | August 13, 2009
Don’t imagine that. Black folks can’t quietly sit down and show a poster to a journalist who ASKED about the poster.
Okay. So lets be clear. The rule was that no one could bring posters in. The young lady did bring a poster in, was yelled and booed, and then put it away. Watch the video. Some where around 22 seconds in, bottom of the screen, you’ll notice someone come over to the Black woman and ask about the poster. she unrolls it, showing it her, and then some dude (blue shirt) comes over and SNATCHES it from her and tries to rip it up. They are then both RUSHED and 1 guy takes the white guy away and 3 flonkin officers take the black woman away.
According the the HatingNotDebating.com, the poster? Was of Rosa Parks. Not Obama. ROSA PARKS.
I’m stepping away from the computer now.

UGH!!! That stuff pisses me off! True, if you were told not to bring posters, don’t bring ‘em, but…the man snatching here property and trying to destroy it was totally uncalled for and complete assery! Why was she taken out like that? She wasn’t the one flipping out! This whole health care issue, which isn’t really about health care, is so out of control with insanity…

Folks have been looking for ways/places to act the fool ever since President Obama got elected. They are only making a fool of themselves and, more dangerously, enabling even bigger fools.

Rules are Rules…so as I agree that the woman shouldn’t have tested the waters with her poster, I do however think the man was completely out of line! Both, in my opinion are part of the problem and not the solution! Honestly, is anyone REALLY surprised at the reactions from either side? Reality is reality…and Racism is our reality in this country! Unfortunately for those of us that wish it weren’t….we’re left to be exposed to the ignorance of others. Personally, I feel that setting the right example in ourselves is much more effective than trying to prove to someone why they should change! In these situations (healthcare reform) I just ask myself…”What would Jesus do?”……and I think we all know the answer to that!

Dear Elon James White,
I do not think you are an “oversensitive Black guy.” I think Mr. White Guy in Blue T-Shirt was overzealous. WTF with the ripping? Who ASKED him to play the vigilante? And whoever slammed you on Facebook WAS an a-hole. You’re not ranting; you were just calling people’s attention to a situation where the authority’s response seemed out of whack–maybe it was and maybe it wasn’t (hard to be entirely sure based on a short video clip), but you’re allowed to say what you think. GAH! People just need to simmer down. The public “discussion” on health care is a nightmare–like Thanksgiving dinner with my loud-talking Italian relatives, times 40 million.

One of the most disturbing things to me about the video clip is the hootin’ and hollerin’ going on when the lady was bum rushed out.
If there was any question whether or not the “shut em down” protests were about health care or something else, listening to the crowd should give the answer.

In response to devans00: I agree wholeheartedly with your last sentence. That said, without minimizing the racist overtones here–and fully admitting that as a white person I likely don’t “get it”–I think the crowd’s response may also have something to do with the fact that people can be kinda stupid in groups. People at these forums seem to think they’re at wrestling matches or old-fashioned melodramas. It’s astonishing how juvenile people are acting–and how mean-spirited so many people appear to be.

Well, to be fair Mr Winfrey was arrested on charges of suspicion of assault. So while the media took the video out of context (shocking, i know) Ms. Johnson may get the last laugh after all.

And the guy ripped the poster out her hands in such a violent , rage-filled manner when he could have calmly asked her to just put the poster away. The “security” should have been much more concerned with his behavior, than hers!

white people still acting like fools. the whites at these town hall meetings are no better than lynch mobs of old.
so vile, so evil. if you’re not helping the problem, you’re a part of the problem.
this lady acted accordingly, and her attacker was clearly out of line.
